A residence surrounded by beautiful oceans and mountains in Vietnam.
Named after the city it's situated in, a house in Nha Trang.
Vo Trang Nghia also known as VTN Architects designed this residence.
The specialty of VTN Architects is that they will give importance to plants and trees,
also tries to provide outdoor spaces to users as much as possible.
A house in Nha Trang is featured in Arkon Tube's Top 100 Structures.
Let's see the concept and analysis in this video.
The area of the site is 276 square meters, which is approximately 3,000 square feet.
Client wanted a large house with a large garden.
In this, they can get a large house with a small garden, or a small house with a large garden.
Here VTN Architects who designed the house introduced the concept of roof garden.
They designed the single roof of the house as a hanging garden,
to plant numerous trees and plants on.
But here comes Vietnam's local building code.
The building code specifies that,
houses in the area should have at least 50% of roof area covered in orange or gray tiles.
Also the roof should be sloped in a certain angle.
To solve this, the architects divided the roof into strips,
parallel bands, of greened roof and tiled roof in alternating sequence.
Then made the bands into steps.
By doing this, the client's need are solved.
Also the local building code is followed.
The layout inside the house are designed according to the parallel bands.
Why?
We will see it in the analysis.
When we analyze the ground floor plan and section, we can say one thing for sure.
The living room, dining room and kitchen are lined up below the tiled roof area.
Then the storage, corridors and bathrooms are placed below the green roof area.
A pair of bedrooms are placed on the rear side of the floor,
with two more bedrooms on the next floor.
That's because the ceiling height below the plants and trees band will be less
when compared to tiled roof band.
The thickness of green roof will be more,
the green roof will have soil and waterproof layer for the gardening purpose in the rooftop.
The main aim of the VTN architects is to provide residents as much as outdoor space as possible.
To do this and also to enhance the natural lighting and ventilation,
they provided three small planted courtyards.
Two of these courtyards are located in the ground floor.
One between the living and dining area,
where the residents can enjoy the courtyard while dining or resting in the living area.
Another one near the bedroom on the ground floor.
The bedroom in the first floor gets a private courtyard.
Also the space above the parking area is turned into a garden which is accessible from the bedroom.
In the terrace area, where the roof garden is planned with parallel bands,
has numerous trees and plants.
In the shadow of trees, the residents can enjoy the views and their lives full of greenery.
VTN architects hits bullseye by solving the client needs also following the local bylaws.
