Day in the life of an Acting Student in Theatre 🎭
Good morning! I have just got to the theater and I'm about to show you the day in the life of a
third year acting student in their final show ever! I'm gonna pause right here just to let you know
that I have made a whole video all about the entire process of making this show leading up
to this day so it might be a good idea to give that one a watch before this one so you understand
what's going on here or the other way around it's totally up to you. So I have just arrived
in my dressing room. I've got here a little bit early because I wanted to vlog and I just want
to be ready today no stress! So this is my dressing room. I share it with one other actress Courtney
who plays Liddy. I am playing Bathsheba Everdeen from Fast and Furious. We have our names on the
door out here there I am there's Courtney and then out here we have the rest of the dressing room
says Ima and Lauren and Angela and then some other people and then downstairs are all the boys. I'm
I'm vlogging. Morning! So this is Ima playing Fanny Robin. Oh it's dark in here.
I'm vlogging today because it's like yeah it's like a day in the life and look there's all the
costumes. They're taking all our skirts to be pressed. Yes they're fixing our costumes I think
so yeah right over and out see you soon. So while everyone's not here you've got to excuse my face
I've got no makeup on because I've got to be ready for hair and makeup but so while everyone's not
here I'm going to take you on a little tour backstage. I don't know if I'm allowed but I'll
keep it a secret. So here is backstage this is where I spend the majority of my time in this
wing here so we have all our props we have a prop table this is the left wing we've got our sheep
umbrellas some of the set that goes off and on we've got our cue person here Ellie she sits
here and she does all the cues she's absolutely incredible and there we have our stage I swear
guys I'm probably not meant to be here but it's just for you there's like this wall here where
everyone's written like all of the shows they've been in even goes back to like 2004 and stuff
so we better write our show on there at some point it goes all the way up and then they have
people like up there who like pull on the things and then stuff comes down from the ceiling
and there's our stages on a rake it's literally so hazardous but somehow we manage we can walk
back here so this is the back we walk back here between um scene changes we have to be really
quiet and like tiptoe back here and this is the right wing which is a lot bigger and again we have
a props table for the right wing we have fanny's coffin we have props and then here is some more
costume stuff where they do changes and this I believe is one of the technicians from this side
they've got the big thing down at the minute but usually like that's where the audience is they've
got to have carpets down over all the wires so it's not a tripping hazard and then if we go back
along here this is where I do all of my quick changes and my quick changes are stress luckily
we've had enough practice that they're kind of smooth now but the quick changes are mad I will
run off the ramp and I will run down and they'll start changing me straight away here's some of my
I absolutely love them so that's a little tour backstage a bit short and sweet oh my script is
here I forgot that but take that in and there's my this is something I made especially for myself
it's got all my quick changes on all the yellow bits are my quick changes and um that's all the
scenes that's been making it a little bit more easy so that's that now I'm gonna go back and
get myself prepared now we are waiting for 10 to arrive
we are all in the green room strange things are happening
right so we're now in hair and makeup I don't know what the time is it's like half 12 we've got
two and a half hours till the show begins there's my hair and here's all the makeups
and this is Tilly she's been my makeup artist and she's a makeup designer and she's designed
all the makeup for the show and all the hair she's done it's so amazing I've got my rollers in
casually doing our vocal warm-up through the window
all right this is the audience
we're getting the warm-up in 30 seconds
yeah that's fine I'm a 10 minute call I'm just having my costume alterations
alterations done and then I'm going to be backstage
I won't have any of that dalliance talk of yours that smack cuddle style won't stand for it back
from Sephardi or my art I suppose it's you that's been speaking against her then well somebody has
it's now the interval so I'm going off to my dressing room because I have to have a hair change
so I'm going to get my hair piece changed and here we are
and yeah and then I change I'm going to put a little bit more lip thing on and then I'm done
it's all right I'll just face and then it's like bulk
just finished we got one more to go tonight so we've got to conserve our energy but that was
really good that was with a Chinese oh Chinese takeaway all right see you in a bit
here we are
don't go behind there yeah
I managed to get some of my quick changes filmed because this is something you will probably
never see footage of quick changes are very stressful for actors because if one thing
goes wrong or you mistime it by two seconds you can miss your cue these quick changes were
particularly stressful because the costume hair and makeup students were all being marked on
their presentation you can see by all the crew around me tweaking my hair and costume that they
wanted it to look just right before I went on stage this was quite stressful being poked and
pulled and tugged at with head torches in my eyes and a lot of crew around me but I just had to go
into myself close my eyes go to another place and breathe deeply to remain as focused as possible
so that I could go straight on and perform the next scene it was during this time that I was
very very thankful that I don't suffer from claustrophobia because it was quite intense
but the main thing that you have to be is kind no matter how stressful it's going on backstage
you have to be kind patient and just do your job so that is what I did so we managed to practice
these quick change drills so that we knew exactly what we were doing by this point so I was
comfortable enough to have it filmed without being too all over the place
oh
we went back to the wrap party and my mum bought me a bottle of champagne
and we all had a little celebration so that was when I stopped filming
I hope you've enjoyed this day in the life please go ahead and watch the other video that I made
because I put a heck of a lot more effort into it and also don't forget to follow my acting
