While the aging shuttle-era spacesuits aboard the International Space Station have just been declared “no-go” for operation, SpaceX is heading to the first tests of its new high-tech spacesuit, preparing for the first private spacewalk!
Well, what exactly is wrong with Nasa spacesuit?
This time, how can SpaceX and Elon Musk save Nasa?
Let’s find out everything about this interesting subject.

Nasa is in big trouble with its spacesuit on ISS!

The agency is suspending all but the most urgent spacewalks after water was found in an astronaut's helmet following a March excursion, agency officials said on Tuesday.

NASA will perform an assessment of its extravehicular mobility unit (EMU) spacesuits after water was found in the helmet worn by European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Matthias Maurer following a March 23 spacewalk.

This means that astronauts will not go outside and perform extravehicular activities (EVAs) unless there is a pressing need for repairs on the International Space Station. Given that the affected EMU won't return to Earth for analysis until July, non-urgent spacewalks will be off the table for several months at the least.

“Because NASA is thinking through the risk posture for these suits, which are aging, the EMU is currently no-go for planned EVAs pending an investigation into what they discover,” Susan Helms, a former NASA astronaut who serves on the panel said.

"Until we understand better what the causal factors might have been during the last EVA with our EMU, we are no-go for nominal EVA," Dana Weigel, deputy station program manager at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, said during a press conference on Tuesday.

Notably, this isn't the first time spacewalks have been suspended due to unexpected water leakage.
Water leaks have been an intermittent issue for the suits for years.
Water intrusion has been a source of concern ever since a July 2013 spacewalk in which European Space Agency astronaut Luca Parmitano’s helmet flooded with water, a frightening, potentially life-threatening malfunction that forced an early end to the excursion.
