Bach Invention 11 in G minor BWV 782 [Harpsichord] Leonart
Bach Invention 11 in a high-res video recording [4K] by Leonart Music. Nenad Leonart plays the eleventh Invention by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) in G minor BWV 782.
Music and video were recorded in the Leonart Studio (Switzerland) on a historic Ruckers harpsichord built by Matthias Griewisch.

This is a music video of the invention in g minor. The Inventions and Sinfonias, BWV 772–801, also known as the Two- and Three-Part Inventions, are a collection of thirty short keyboard compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach : 15 inventions, which are two-part contrapuntal pieces, and 15 sinfonias, which are three-part contrapuntal pieces. They were originally written as musical exercises for his students.
Bach titled the collection:
Forthright instruction, wherewith lovers of the clavier, especially those desirous of learning, are shown in a clear way not only 1) to learn to play two voices clearly, but also after further progress 2) to deal correctly and well with three obbligato parts, moreover at the same time to obtain not only good ideas, but also to carry them out well, but most of all to achieve a cantabile style of playing, and thereby to acquire a strong foretaste of composition.
The two groups of pieces are both arranged in order of ascending key, each group covering eight major and seven minor keys.
The inventions were composed in Köthen; the sinfonias, on the other hand, were probably not finished until the beginning of the Leipzig period. The autograph fair copy is dated 1723.
Like the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Inventions and Sinfonias did not appear in print during his lifetime. Nevertheless, it was widely disseminated in manuscript copies even before its first publication in 1801 and ever since the work has been widely used for the teaching of young musicians. At the present time, however, some concerns are expressed frequently regarding its proper use, as to what extent Bach's intentions are being understood correctly. It is sad to discover that the work is often regarded as a dry, technical exercise for the independence of two hands. In order to enjoy the real benefit from this highly renowned teacher, one ought to make every effort to try to understand his music wholeheartedly by searching for Bach's sense of judgement. Only by succeeding with this enquiry, can one learn from this work a universal principle of music, which, in turn, gives us a sense of true appreciation of music as well as encouragement for further study.

Short Bio:
Nenad Leonart is a baroque musician on harpsichord and organ based in Switzerland. He was born in Nis (Serbia) and studied ancient music and harpsichord in the University of Arts Zurich (ZHdK). Since last year, he has started his own series of concerts in his home studio and moved into the music video production business.
For these videos, I got inspired - among others - by the Netherlands Bach Society. I have no ties or connections to their organisation whatsoever, although I personally know and also admire several artists performing at the "All of Bach" series.
