Hi friends, Christy here from makingitinthemountains.com and today I am so excited to share with you
five simple ways to make your home feel warm and cozy. Alright friends, welcome back to my channel.
Thank you so so much for joining me today. I don't know what the weather is like wherever you
are watching this video today but here in northern Alberta fall is in full swing already. The air has
grown crisp and cool and we are already wearing our warmest tooths and mitts for frosty morning
walks to school and instead of shorts and sandals our closets are now filled with sweaters and boots.
Now our closets are not the only things getting cozy around here. These cooler days have me looking
to spread all the warm and cozy I can throughout our home too. Now here in northern Alberta we
might get more than our fair share of cold and snow throughout the year but we also get more
than our fair share of cozy too. Spending so much of our year covered in cold and snow has given us
a ton of opportunity to practice and figure out the very best ways to get cozy. So today I am so
excited to share with you five simple ways that you can make your home feel warm and cozy
even on the coldest days ahead. Alright so the first way that I like to make our home feel warm
and cozy is by bringing in warm lighting. Obviously as our days grow shorter bringing in some extra
lighting is even more important. Nothing makes a space feel cozier especially on a cold dark day
than layers of warm lighting. Lamps, candles, fairy lights and especially a fire burning away in the
fireplace are all easy ways to bring a warm glow to any space. Alright way number two to make your
home feel warm and cozy is layering in textiles. Rugs, curtains, blankets and lots and lots of
pillows. The more layers of textiles you bring into a room the warmer and more inviting a space
will feel. Mixing the materials and patterns is an easy way to give things a cozier more collected
feel. Way number three to make your home feel warm and cozy is to bring in lots of texture. Another
simple way to add a warm collected feel to any space is to bring in different textures. Wicker,
wool, faux fur, chunky knits, different metal finishes and various wood tones all bring their
own layers of texture and warmth to a space. Okay way number four to make your home feel warm and
cozy is to bring in some greenery. Whether it's the real deal or a very convincing faux version
bringing in a bit of greenery is a surefire way to breathe a bit of life into any room. In the
colder months I love to work in deeper moodier greens, reds and browns to make things feel extra
cozy. And finally way number five that I like to use to make our home feel warm and cozy is to fill
it with cozy scents. Scent is often overlooked when it comes to creating a cozy atmosphere within
your home but it can be such a great way to make your home feel cozy and inviting the moment you
step into it especially when it triggers feelings of nostalgia. Scented candles or whipping up your
favorite baked treat are simple ways you can fill your home with warm and cozy scents. You can find
the links to these sweet baked treats as well as this beautiful DIY scented candle linked up in the
description box below. Okay friends I hope you found some inspiration today for some ideas and
ways that you can make your homes feel warm and cozy through these colder months. If you like this
