Is not this a true autumn day?
Just this steel melancholy that I love,
that makes life and nature harmonize.
George Elliot
Today marks the first day of fall.
Even though it's still blazing hot in North Carolina,
I can see subtle signs that fall weather is coming.
The acorns are starting to fall to the ground
all green, waiting to turn brown
and be buried by neighboring squirrels.
The leaves are starting to change with vibrant colors
of reds, yellows, and muddy brown.
Even though most of them haven't fallen to the ground yet,
there's still some early birds here and there.
One multicolored leaf here, one multicolored leaf there.
It's just so pretty.
The cicadas are still humming their summer songs,
but they're starting to shed their skins,
so that's pretty cool.
It's still very warm during the days in North Carolina,
but it's beginning to get cooler at night,
enough to want to cuddle in the touch of a cardigan
or a blanket, or even drink warm apple cider.
One of my goals is to learn how to make apple cider,
and I really, really want to try.
Soon it'll be time to start fixing warm soups again,
and I love to warm my belly up with a soup on a cold day.
There's still flowers to be harvested here and there.
I was really excited to find this field of wildflowers.
The vibrant colors of yellow reminds me so much of fall colors.
I cannot wait to harvest sunflowers.
Sunflowers is one of my favorite flowers,
and fall is the prime time to harvest sunflowers.
I'm trying to collect flowers here and there
to hang dry out for the fall weather,
and some flowers to press into books
to layer about around the house.
Comment down below, what is your favorite about the autumn season?
I haven't gotten around to it yet,
but soon I will be creating a bucket list of things I want to do this fall.
One of them being is visiting an orchard.
I want to visit some sort of orchard,
apple orchard, a pear orchard,
just some sort of orchard where I can go and pick fruit.
I may try to find an apple orchard
so that I can make my apple cider afterward.
How cool would that be?
Do you have a bucket list this autumn season?
Tell me down below, I want to hear about it.
I'm so glad autumn is finally here.
I'm so, so ready for some cooler days.
I'm very tired of going outside and sweating.
I'm ready for some cooler weather where I can walk outside
and enjoy my time out there without sweating bucket loads.
Even though summer is my favorite season of all time,
I am ready for autumn and I am ready for the weather.
I'm ready to grab that good book
and sit by the fire with some hot apple cider
and some warm soup to fill my belly.
I hope you enjoy your autumn season
with all its stillness and mystery.
