Hey friends, I hope you're all fine.
This time I want to bring you the whole reality of life in the Bavarian countryside in winter.
Because it's not always just a funny snow party.
I'm gonna show you the beautiful and the ugly sides.
And tell you my personal stories about frozen toes and car accidents.
Furthermore, this video is a collaboration with Schiffera Leidler.
Who will show you how it is to live in rural Canada during winter.
But more on that later.
Lately it was snowing and snowing and snowing.
We got over half a meter snow in one day.
The first task of every day is therefore to trample down the snow on the cat paths in the garden.
When we don't do this for the cat, she just doesn't go outside.
When the snow is higher than the little princess herself, it's understandable, I guess.
But we just don't want her to poo in our house.
Later on that day I went out for a walk together with my mom.
The path on which we are walking in this footage is normally a small street for cars.
But with all the snow we got, the street was totally hidden.
After some time we reached a lake on the edge of the forest.
And it was so calm in this place.
The setting sun behind the clouds created a very special atmosphere.
Guys, I'm so cold at the moment.
I sit at the fireplace now.
My dad made a fire.
And well, I got my toes freeze to death on the walk today.
Which is so stupid, because I could have avoided it.
I wasn't dressed properly and I also wanted to walk on the frozen lake.
But there was a very wet snow and water mixture on top.
And I didn't see it first and stepped into it.
So I had wet feet the whole walk.
And well, we were one hour outside.
So that wasn't great.
I mean, the feeling of frozen toes is nothing new to me.
Because when you spend a lot of time outside in winter,
especially when you film and stand around or when you ride a horse,
then this happens quite often.
So I didn't take it seriously.
But well, this time it went too far.
On the way back from the lake I noticed that they hurt when I stepped on the ground.
And I tried to walk only on my heels.
Sometimes it felt like they would break off.
And I had this scene of Pirates of the Caribbean in my head the whole time.
Which wasn't helpful, because I got very afraid of that.
And yeah.
When we were nearly at the car, they hurt so much that I had to shout because of the pain.
And now they are just really red and swollen.
And I can barely feel anything.
Although they are thawed now.
I just hope the feeling comes back into them and that I don't have any permanent damages.
So I will take a hot shower now.
And yeah, I hope it will be better tomorrow.
The next day I was smarter and dressed up properly.
With snow pants and better boots.
It was a stormy day.
Which I enjoyed.
Because I've always been a fan of wilder weather.
As long as it doesn't get dangerous of course.
On the way I met my dad.
Who went out for some cross country skiing.
On the trail next to the village.
Guys, it has been so hard today to get into this forest.
I mean it's just 200 meters away from my parents house.
But with all this snow you can't barely walk.
And well, it took me 25 minutes to get here.
So I thought some of you might wanna know if transport is a problem here in Bavaria.
When we have snow like this and icy streets.
And well, yes it is actually.
Last week we got over half a meter fresh snow in one day.
And the snowplows couldn't keep up with that obviously.
So the highways were blocked and especially the trucks couldn't go on.
They were basically stuck on the highway.
And I think that isn't a nice experience.
Especially because it was really cold.
Trains were also not available for this day.
And my friend Kim sent me these pictures how her car looked when she got out from work.
They literally had to dig it out of the snow.
Of course it can be very dangerous to drive a car here in winter.
Especially when it snows like this because the view is very bad and the streets get extremely slippery.
But often the streets are also slippery because of frozen water without snow.
And that is very tricky because you don't necessarily notice it then.
I actually had a car accident three years ago on Sylvester when I was driving to a Sylvester party.
We didn't have snow on that day.
And the street looked completely normal the whole way and very dry.
So I wasn't expecting anything.
But in a little tunnel there was a thin layer of frozen water on the ground.
And my car started sliding.
My car bumped into the tunnel wall with the side.
I didn't get hurt.
But it was a huge shock and the airbag exploded.
That was snow.
Please don't hit my camera.
The airbag exploded so I couldn't go on with the car.
Some guys helped me to push it out of the tunnel into the field.
We brought it into the repair shop the next day but they couldn't repair it.
It wasn't that funny and it was my mom's car.
But everyone was just happy that I didn't get hurt.
So yes, transport can be very tricky here in winter time.
And there are happening a lot of accidents.
So if you ever visit a cold place like this and you are not used to it,
please drive very carefully and slowly because it's dangerous, guys.
And I don't want you to be hurt.
So this is my warning.
Please stay safe.
Love and excitement are the feelings that come when I think of beautiful winter days like this.
The more it snows, the more thrilled I am.
It was just an extremely unique experience.
Nature gifted us those days.
And I tried to see it with childlike admiration.
I'm here at one of my favorite places.
The little lake where I filmed my first video.
And it's just so beautiful.
Just listen to the birds for a second.
As I said in the beginning, this video is a collaboration with Schaeffera Leidler,
a very talented filmmaker from the Canadian countryside.
My name is Schaeffera.
I have a passion for nature, a deep love for all the things on this earth.
I make videos to share the world through my eyes,
to give you a little piece of myself and home in the ever-changing wilderness.
But my greatest desire is to share with you everything that I've learned that healed me
so that you too can be inspired to live the life you want to live
and feel warmth in your heart.
So come join me on my journey as I share with you weekly doses of inspiration.
So we also made a video for Schaeffera's channel.
And as I know how beautifully crafted her videos are,
I really recommend checking this out.
I put you the link into the description box down below.
Friends, I just hope you have the most beautiful week.
See you soon!
