Hey guys, it's Tessa from HandleTheHeat.com and today I'm going to be showing you how to make
homemade churros. Not just any churros though, we're going to be stuffing these with Nutella.
These deep fried cinnamon sugar coated morsels are absolutely decadent and delicious and you're
going to love them. So let's get started. To make our homemade churro dough, we're actually
starting in a saucepan with one tablespoon of granulated sugar, a quarter teaspoon of salt,
and one stick of unsalted butter. To that I'm adding one cup of regular water and I'm going
to set this over medium-high heat and bring this mixture to a boil. This is also very similar to
my homemade empanada dough recipe. If you'd like to see that, let me know in the comments below and
I'll try to make a video on that one too. So I just bring that mixture to a boil and add one
cup of flour and stir for about 30 to 45 seconds over low heat, allowing the dough to dry out a
little bit and come together into a cohesive mixture. Once that's come together, I'm actually
going to remove the dough from the heat and add in my eggs. And it's really important to add your
eggs one at a time so that you can allow the dough to accept the moisture that the eggs are adding to
the mixture. So I always like to beat my eggs before I add them. It makes it that much easier
to add them in. The best part about this dough is that it can actually be made ahead of time.
As you'll see in a second, we pipe this dough out using a pastry bag to get that churro shape.
After you've done that, you can actually cover the churro dough and refrigerate it for up to
three hours or you can even freeze it for up to one week. You just have to be sure to thaw it for
30 minutes before frying. This is really awesome because churros are best served fresh and warm
right after they're done frying. And so this allows you to hold off on frying until you're
just ready to serve. All right, so now that my dough has come together with all of the eggs,
I'm transferring it to a large piping bag. I like to use the plastic ones because you can just toss
them when you're done. You don't have to worry about cleaning them. And I've actually fitted
this bag with a large open star piping tip, as you can see here. This one exactly is the Ateco
number 827 tip. I'm just piping this onto a parchment lined baking sheet in four inch lengths.
And as you can see, if you just kind of let the dough fall, it makes a little bit of a tapered
edge. If you want to make perfectly shaped churros, you can actually use scissors to just snip the
edge off and it makes for a much nicer, more even shape. So I'm just going to pipe these out until
all the dough is gone. And it makes about 15 churros. And you can easily double this recipe
if you want to serve a crowd. So once these are all piped, I'm just going to cover them and pop
them in the fridge while my oil heats. And my oil is heated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. And I
always like to use a deep fry thermometer, like you can see here, to be sure that the oil is the
perfect temperature. Because too hot or too cold, the churros can get soggy or undercooked. And we
do not want that. So I just fry them for about five to seven minutes or until they're golden
brown and cooked through. And then coat them in cinnamon sugar. And when you're frying anything
like this with any dough, you always want to fry one before you fry the whole batch. And cut it
open and make sure that that time and temperature cooks it all the way through. So once it's coated
in cinnamon sugar and I fried all of my churros, I'm going to take a skewer and create a hole
through the center of the churro all the way through to the other side. And I just kind of
maneuver the skewer all the way around in a circle so that I have enough room to pipe
my Nutella in. And the Nutella is best piped when it is a little bit warm and pourable,
so it's a little bit more melty. So I have the Nutella in a different pastry bag with
just a small tip. You can use whatever tip you have, or you can just snip a corner of a
Ziploc bag. It'll work almost as well as this. And I just pipe it through on both sides so that
they meet in the middle and the entire churro is stuffed with Nutella. And you are going to
die over how good these are. All right, guys, so that's exactly how you make these homemade
Nutella stuffed churros. As always, the full step-by-step recipe that you can print out is
on my blog at the link below. Don't these look absolutely incredible? I bet you wish you could
reach your hand into the screen and grab a bite. That's how good these look. So if you like this
video, please give it a thumbs up. And don't forget to leave me a comment below and let me
know what you'd like to see next time, and I'll try to make that happen for you. Thank you guys
so much for watching, and I'll catch you around in another recipe video soon.
