Close-up Mat Unboxing. Magician’s Bespoke Mats

It's another unscheduled, unscheduled, unscheduled live stream because I've just got my mat, I've just got my new close-up mat and I haven't opened it yet. Well saying that, I suppose I'd better, there'll be no one here because I'm doing it and it's a Saturday and it's always super quiet on Saturdays. I wonder if I can, can I change the, well look I can give it a, I'm not going to mess So I'm going to do this unboxing, it's not in a box, but I thought I would share the arrival of my close-up mat from Martin Quigley. So I've got, I can't, magician's bespoke, hey from South Africa, how you doing? I've got to put my glasses on, it's just no good is it? How do I put these, there we go. So I, so I've got my Boston Bosch mat which is lovely but they're big, they're big considerable things, you know, you kind of, and it's, I use it all the time but it's a significant, it's that, it's one of those sit down and kind of big thing on your table, you need loads of space and all that, so I love it. But Martin sent me one of these and I genuinely haven't opened it yet and I thought it'd be quite funny if I actually opened it and it isn't that. I don't actually because I'm presuming it is, you might, you might kind of, I might be opening and doing an unboxing of like a chopping board or something like that but I'm sure I haven't bought one of them. I do buy quite a lot of them, I do tend to forget what I've bought. So I'm going to show you this, I have no idea what it's like, oh I think it's gonna be all right. So I had to cut it a little bit because I also thought you might be watching someone struggling to get a package open. I was lucky I didn't do it with a standing knife on it because that could have been disastrous but it is my mat. So Martin quickly makes these and he has, he's getting a website soon so keep looking for it. But lots of people ask me about mats and I have a really kind of broken up, ruined, awful looking one that I roll up and carry with me. I have the big ones, hey JJ Herman, good morning from Colorado, how you doing? I'll probably hang around for a bit on this so if you don't want, this is going to be quite a waffly thing, this isn't going to be a kind of review review review in that respect and I don't, you know, for me if close-up mats feel nice and they look nice and they're clearly going to last for a long time, that's it. I'm also very aware, good JJ Herman, I'm glad you do, I'm also very aware that I mentioned the Quantum Deck giveaway at the end of the giveaway the other day and I haven't, didn't actually say how to do it. So I might do this one and maybe I should do a different video on that just so people know what that is because I don't want people having to watch all of this and then do it. I'm sure by the time some of you are looking, watching this, looking at it, that's what my grandparents used to say, used to go, oh let's all sit down and look at the telly when I was a young boy. This is lovely. Okay, so I really like this. It's a kind of nice. Martin will be able to, I'm sure he'll comment below when he knows I'm doing this. He doesn't know I'm doing this. It's really, really nice. It's different. It's kind of like a sort of, I wish I knew what it was. Let's read it. The general dimensions are 400 millimeters, 16 inches by 300 millimeters. Different options are available from the top covering and the base can be done in either black or brown. Again personalization, personalised which is embroidered so it will last a lifetime. That's important. So that's my embroidered thing there. I've got lots of Real Magic reviews so I thought I'd done that and it looks great and it is going to last. Now saying, I've got the, on my other Wolfsman Bosch ones, they're printed on and they look great but they are, you know, with a lot of loose use. They are going to start kind of going a little bit but that isn't going to, and it's really, really lovely and it's a really nice answer to that kind of, I think this is a kind of suede I think. I haven't got a clue about materials. An answer is that thing where you just want to get it on the table but you don't want to kind of loads and loads of space. So it's beautiful Martin. Thank you so much for that. I really look forward to using it and what I also like about it is that it hasn't got, it's padded but it hasn't got that ultra padded thing. I'll have a look at the comments in a minute so if you've got any questions at all. Now padded ones are lovely but what you find is sometimes if you do a padded one and you go and you're at a convention or you're jamming and someone else has got a mat, a lot of mats you can't do because they're not padded enough. So I kind of shy away from those mats that don't really allow you to do a lot of work. For coin stuff they're lovely. So one of my Wolfsman Bosch ones is very forgiving and I love using it but I always make sure I use the other one and I'm going to make sure this is going to be my go-to mat basically all the time now because it's, because the size of it I can use it again except when I'm, when I'm out and about and it's going to look great on camera and it's not, it's, you know, you're going to have to put a little bit of work into those riffle shuffles which I really, really like. You've got to learn to do them. I'm not saying you should be doing them on a glass table because I think, you know, it's doable but there's not much point unless you, that's the kind of thing you're going to be doing a lot of.
