Family hike in the Belgian High Fens on a rainy autumn day on November 2nd 2021. We followed hiking trail WM01 - La Grande Ronde des Fagnes (‘Rond de Venen’). This trail, marked with a blue rectangle, starts at Belgians highest point (Signal de Botrange - 694 m), has a total length of 8.7 km and counts only 94 altimetres. It offers great views over the High Fens (German: Hohes Venn; French: Hautes Fagnes; Dutch: Hoge Venen), the largest Belgian nature reserve. It lies within the German-Belgian natural park Hohes Venn-Eifel. The High Fens are undoubtedly one of the most unspoilt natural areas of the Ardennes and the Eifel, and are one of the most famous tourist attractions of the East Cantons (Ostbelgien).
