The nights are getting colder and even though it's still sunny, the light is changing. The end of
summer is definitely here. I recorded this end of August when harvest was in full swing and the
grape harvest here definitely to me marks a transition from summer to fall. And I'm making
a healthy snack for my French American friend Hannah who's the operations manager of the winery
her dad owns here in Burgundy. And she confessed to me that she hasn't had any fresh fruits and
vegetables for five days. Her and her team are in full harvest mode. So I'm bringing a
courgette graffutti and a smoothie for the team.
More wine related activities on my to-do list this week because I was invited to
come to Chateau Pommard which is a very well-known wine chateau in one of my favorite villages here,
Pommard. And I've seen they've been doing renovations I think since we moved here in 2019.
I really enjoyed seeing the chateau for the first time. I've never been there before
and I loved hearing about the plans that they have. They're creating a hotel and a restaurant
and the restaurant will have vegetarian options. So just like us they are trying to bring something
to the region that is not the traditional thing that we already have so much of even though we
value and appreciate the traditions of the region. It is nice to see innovative places that are
trying to appeal to a different kind of audience. And they're also in the process of transitioning
to organic wine making. So as you can understand I was very enthusiastic about the partnership
which offers preferred rates to their experiences for our guests. Their vineyard at the back of the
chateau is wonderful. It is enclosed so it's completely surrounded by walls. It is definitely
worth a visit when you're coming to Burgundy because their wine tasting also includes
interesting information about what makes Burgundy so unique as a wine region.
Putting this in the cabin so it can chill for when guests come tomorrow. Here's a tiger. It's
a man doing a surprise weekend for his wife. And I was going to film to show you this gorgeous
light. I don't know if you can see it on film. There's something just so gorgeous about this
late summer sunlight in the evening. Around this time of the year the forest the colors just change
every day with the light and with the leaves turning yellow and all orange gold. I don't
think you can see it on camera which is a shame because it's just gorgeous.
