Kimono care Part 2 with Yukari Werrell by Becky James

In Kyoto. I went to visit some friends. 1998, probably. When we were living in Singapore. They took me to a market and said all the kimonos get thrown away and they were in a big pile on the floor and I nearly cried because it was just awful and it was so beautiful. But they found some nice ones that were still folded. And I think I bought two home. So this one says you're so lucky. You're so oi. That's kimono. Great. And it says Kyoto. Thank you. I'm still in the company. And high quality kimono shop. And do you think it's from Okinawa style? No. Wow, that just looked amazing when you did that. And it's silk. And it's got the long sleeves so the top is... It's not a long sleeve. So it's not for a young woman who's not married yet. So when you get married, you're not allowed to wear the long sleeves. Long sleeves is to attract men. Men knows I am single and available. So this is perfect for me, really. A middle-aged married woman. Great. This is not right, is it? No, they folded it out. I've probably done that sometime. But it's lovely. It's got a phoenix on it. Do you think it's a phoenix? Yes, I think so. It's amazing. Just shiffle around. And you know what? You often see in this country, people say, oh, I've got quite some kimono. But it's full of stains. Once it stains, it really doesn't mean anything. It's very expensive to remove the stains. And it's even got a pattern on the fabric and then it's printed on the fabric. Beautiful. So you can see it, and it is silk. So you can see the pattern underneath. It's actually changing the colour on the video, but it is kind of a pale banana yellow. It's probably a much more elegant description of the colour. And then there's a bit of orange lining. Oh, the orange just... Look at the orange. Oh, wow. I do remember taking it out. Just kept it really safe. Look at the bottom. It's gorgeous. We're thinking we won't open it, but we've actually now nearly. It's beautiful. Yeah. Just a little flash of colour. If anyone knows a little bit more about it, we would love to hear from you. And I'll keep it safe. What have you found? A little secret button? Yes, so that... Oh, yeah. And then... Turn it back, so you put this side and this side together. Okay. Yeah. And then I will just... The lines... Right in the middle. So it's flat. And then... Maybe I can undo this. And then... That's it. Perfect. And I'll just put that back where it was and just leave it in there. Yes. Because it was fine. Yes. And then maybe one day we'll actually put them on. What do you say? Yes, dress up in this. Because it's half sleeve. You can wear it. Okay. We'll have to find a reason for us to get our... Yes. ...kimonos on. I've got another one in the loft and another one somewhere else.
