Best places to visit on the California Coast? What was Santa Monica before "Baywatch" ?
We visit Santa Monica and explore it's origins and the importance of actor Leo Carrillo and his family in founding the city and preserving the coast. Up north we visit the Elephant Seals during mating season in San Simeon near Hearst Castle. We also go to the San Diego area and Fiesta Island home of the San Diego Canoe and Kayak Team founded by Olympic kayaker Chris Barlow. For our Food break we eat at a great place Avila's El Ranchito in Seal Beach and talk to owner Elyse Avilla Smith about her grandmother's recipe's and the family business she and her husband founded in Huntington Park that now has 13 locations!
