Welcome everyone to Homestead Happy Mama! In today's video I will be showing you a quick tour of our pantry after grocery shopping. We mostly bought pantry items that have a longer shelf life. Okay, so y'all know gas is going up, groceries going up, but my pay ain't going up.
Pay ain't going up. So we are on our way right now to Walmart. Our pantry is running low
on some things and we want to take y'all along for a shopping journey for the things that we need.
Welcome to Homestead Happy Mama. This is our pantry. We are getting low on groceries. We have
a family of six. We have four boys. So today we're going to go grocery shopping and I'm just showing
y'all what it looks like before. As you know, groceries and gas have went up with inflation.
At this time, our grocery bill was around $500. This was back in March and I think gas was like
$369. Right now where we live in Louisiana, gas is $430 and the same amount of groceries
that we buy in this video, it ends up being about $800. So yes.
Okay, so we just got home. Everybody helped and we unloaded the groceries and this is the final
product, whatever you want to call it. I'm going to show you guys around and show you what we have.
Okay, so as you saw before, we had about half of this and we just got some more chicken broth
at Walmart. We just added this buttermilk. I call them pancakes. It says flapjacks, but
pancake mix. Gotta have coffee. We got the huge thing of coffee. Two of those. We have one in
there that we are using right now. I think we bought four or five of the flowers and then I
got an extra cornmeal mix. I mean, I don't bake as much as I would like to, but I'm gonna crank it up
this year. Here are our beans. I got a few more white beans. I really knew that we had,
we already had a lot of beans, so I just didn't get as much as I usually get.
We did stock up on the condiments. I got this barbecue sauce. I love putting that on chicken
and letting my husband grill. He's like, does the best job grilling. Ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard.
And we got this big thing of rice and I can't remember. I think we just got this. That's right.
Got some more oil. I usually don't use vegetable oil just because I know it's not the healthiest
choice, but I got it to fry with and then we have our olive oil I bought tonight. It's a big,
or pretty big, not as big as this, but pretty big thing of it. I'm really thankful.
Got a thing of vinegar. Always need that for cleaning. Got a big, let's see how many ounces.
It's four pounds of cane sugar for tea and stuff. This side is gonna be, I just need to
go get some more produce, but this is where I put like all of our potatoes, sweet potatoes,
regular potatoes, onions, that kind of stuff. Really tonight our grocery shopping was mostly
for all of this stuff that doesn't go bad for a long time, so I'll probably make another trip
for all the perishable things. So down here we have toilet paper,
trash bags, soap, just all that kind of stuff. So tonight we got
paper towels, more toilet paper, more paper plates, and just some more trash bags and stuff.
This, we do not eat this kind of stuff. The boys begged and I'm like, you know what,
for hard times or something, some kind of emergency where we just needed something to eat,
that kind of stuff comes in handy and it will fill their bellies, but it is definitely not healthy,
not mom approved at all. So we racked up on black beans. I know y'all saw this before,
but I just wanted to show the difference. It's a lot fuller, lots of cans, and what's funny is
I don't really cook with a lot of cans at all. Now if I have like chili, certain soups, I do,
that's the best, easiest way. Then cooking the beans myself, they take forever, so I really
enjoy that. Here's corn, tuna, we got a lot of green beans, and this is just like random,
randomness, like parmesan, gumbo. It's always good to have artichokes if I make spinach dip.
Just, this is just like a little random spot I haven't really figured out what to do with yet.
And up here higher, a little bit higher, we have our snacks, popcorn, and then I have tea right
there, and chips, almonds, cookies. Y'all, I know this might look like a lot of food, but truthfully
it's going to be gone in like a week, or not even a week. These snacks will be completely gone.
Um, I love, I don't really need to eat this, but I love these. I just will eat like half of one if
I'm super craving something super sweet, and then these are really good too. Oops,
this is just if I get a sweet tooth for something. I love these chocolate chips by the Annie's brand,
The boys are wanting to make, um, homemade rice krispie treats, so we got them the
rice krispie cereal. They were out during Christmas, and I forgot about it, but now
they saw that we, they had them, and they were so excited, so I told them we've never done it before,
but anyway, um, got some extra noodles.
We already had this quinoa. I remember the first time I saw this word. I mean, my grandmother, um,
had never cooked with it before. She helped raise me, and she always uses rice, but
the first time I saw this word, I thought you say it like quinoa, and somebody corrected me.
Got extra peanut butter. We go through lots and lots of peanut butter. These are the bigger,
bigger jars, two pounds. Got lots of oatmeal. I love making homemade granola with this,
like homemade cereal, um, and I can share my recipe if you're interested,
and got some grits back there. The boys wanted this, my husband, so I was like,
I've never had them, but maybe, maybe they're good. Uh, we try, I try to stay away from
that, so I just eat, eat them plain with cheese or something, cheese and butter,
and we have 12 of these chicken noodle soups. They're really good. Comes in handy for times
where you have nothing to cook. Just a quick meal. All right, guys, well, this is our last walk
through in the pantry. Thank you so much for watching. Um, we didn't even show, like, what we
bought for the refrigerated section, um, of our food, so if you would like to see another video
of just what we eat in a week or what it's like with a family of six buying groceries and meal
prep, that kind of stuff, I would love to share that with you guys. Just let me know in the
comment section below, and I just hope that you'll have a blessed week. Thank you so much for
watching, and don't forget to click that subscribe button if you want to see more videos like this.
