BIG Open Slate UPDATE!

This is the Andres Segovia Show. Hey everyone it's Andres and I'm coming at you with another update regarding the Brax Open Slate for the month of July. Normally they do like about an average one update a month but this one dropped just this morning on July 27th and I gotta read it to you. It's a, I believe this is a lot of good news for those of you that have backed the project and I haven't read the whole thing I just got a glimpse of part of it so let's react together shall we. This comes from Indiegogo. Update number six big news every Open Slate just got an upgrade on us and it's dated July 27, 2026. All right let's get through this thing. Okay both versions of Open Slate are getting a meaningful upgrade and every current backer gets it at no extra cost. If you already pre-ordered this is simply on us. So here's what's new. All right here we go. Base version now with an OLED display. Dude this is huge. So the base version of Open Slate is getting a huge glow up and now ships with the same OLED display as the pro version. This is one of the reasons I went for the pro. Not just because of other specs but because the screen OLED. I always prefer to go OLED so this is great news for those that got the base version. This means the deeper blacks richer color and gorgeous contrast that used to be pro only are now standard on every unit. If you back the base version you're getting this upgrade for free. I have a suspicion as to why this might be and this is also a good thing. It's because when you buy the parts in bulk it it's a lot cheaper per unit when you buy more and if they were going to go with an OLED and an LCD panel for the base model well what if there weren't that many orders then the price per unit for those screens were going to be much more expensive. So maybe it's on par with OLED and a decision was made that OLED just made more sense so they just ordered even more of OLED and they're going to put those panels on the base and that's what makes the most sense. That's what I'm assuming from a business standpoint that occurred and this is a good thing for everyone. Okay so pro version now with 512 gigabyte native storage. Pro backers we didn't forget you we decided to double down on storage and upgrade the pro version to 512 gigabytes of native storage. More room for your files apps and projects right out of the box. This is huge I like that. There's a bigger reason behind this we're pushing pros specs so that OpenState can be a genuinely viable mobile workstation. Yeah about that that's a little crazy because the tablet is looking like a hub with the screen the way where all those ports are are on it. So ample native storage is a core part of that vision and this upgrade is a deliberate step towards it and yes current pro backers get this at no extra cost the upgrade is on the house. Thank you very much. Why we're doing this simple you believed in OpenState early and we want the device you receive to be even better than the one you backed so as we've locked into the design and moved toward production we found room to give more so we did. Thank you for being part of this from the start we can't wait to get these into your hands we will post another project update in the coming couple of weeks the Brax team. I am counting on August probably giving us an update on the production timeline because while they normally do give an update like the first week of of the month this one says we'll post another project update in the coming couple of weeks so that would put it out to about early to mid-August so I'm assuming there's something there'll be some news on production timeline by then something a little more concrete now that the design is locked and they're moving towards production so thank you Brax team for this update completely unexpected and welcome news on a Monday because Monday is never a good day for for good news but this is very welcome and well that brings me back to the question I always ask those of you that are sitting on the sidelines does this make the product more enticing to you or for those of you that saw that maybe the pro version I think I don't know if they still have it if they're sold out let me actually check that so let's check well July 27th let's see if they have any more so when you click pre-order on the Brax store it'll take you back to Indiegogo and then you would scroll down and the only pledge that you can get so the first batch of OpenSlate is completely sold out you haven't ordered no worries you can pre-order OpenSlate and get it delivered with the delivery batch number two estimated to ship in October 26th this one OpenSlate batch number two 529 dollars for this is the the standard one you see originally they were going to ship with IPS display not an LCD as I thought so an IPS display so now they're shipping with OLED this one's expected December 2026 as is the OpenSlate Pro originally was scheduled for December 2026 but over here their latest update saying the batch number two possibly go out October 26th so it's moved up now I have had a couple of questions and and this has been on my mind as well about testing the Brax 3 device the second iteration of it because it's been a little refreshed compared to what I originally got from the early backers I don't have the funds to invest in it so unless Brax technology is going to send it over I would happily receive it they know how to reach me but with respects to the crowdfunding stuff I've have a lot of money invested on a bunch of different products that I've been waiting in some cases six months to just over six months there's even there's even a book that I pre-ordered back in November that I finally got last week so there's stuff happening in the you know pre-order world that things get delayed because of whatever economic reasons there are so that's that anyway thank you so much let me know your thoughts on this project in the comment section down below remember to follow me across socials at TheAndrastigovia for those of you listening on the audio version you guys already know the drill go to TheAndrastigovia.com find the show notes accompany this episode and you'll find any relevant links to whatever I about there anyway that's it I'll see you in the next one
