At an event hosted by the Ave Maria School of Law, researcher Cynthia Sun spoke at the Victims of Communism panel on the six main tactics employed by Beijing in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. She detailed how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) systematically detains practitioners, sentencing them to lengthy prison terms where they endure brutal torture, forced labor, and ideological brain-washing. Sun also highlighted the CCP’s extensive use of high-tech surveillance to monitor and suppress religious expression, as well as its efforts to forcibly "transform" practitioners through psychological and physical abuse.

Furthermore, she also exposed the ongoing atrocity of forced organ harvesting, where detained Falun Gong practitioners are killed to supply China’s transplant industry. Sun shared firsthand accounts of individuals who suffered severe persecution, including those who were tortured to death or subjected to relentless abuse in labor camps. This is a crisis that reaches beyond China's borders as the CCP extends its persecution through transnational repression, targeting diaspora communities and pressuring foreign institutions to align with its propaganda. Her presentation emphasized the urgent need for global awareness and action to confront these human rights violations and protect religious freedom.
