Two dead. One injured. Case closed. That is all the CCP wants you to know.
Late on Sunday night, November 2, a series of loud blasts shook Wuchang District in the central Chinese city of Wuhan. Residents say they were woken by explosions so strong "the whole building shook." Elevator doors were blown off from the top floor to the ground floor. Glass rained down onto the street.
And the story spreading through Chinese delivery-rider chat groups that night was even more chilling than the blasts themselves:
Someone had placed a batch of "errand" orders, lured a dozen or more food-delivery riders into a high-rise apartment, locked the door, and turned on the gas.
The next morning, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) gave the public exactly one paragraph.
