🚨 Amazing CCP propaganda! The German president praised "freedom of thought" at Peking University. CCP state media quietly cut it out.

On Oct 29, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on a state visit to China, received an honorary professorship at Peking University and gave a speech there.

According to the official text published by his office, he began with Cai Yuanpei, the legendary president of Peking University a century ago, who had studied in Leipzig. Then he quoted Cai's famous motto for the university:

"Freedom of thought and embracing of diversity. Let us adhere to this spirit!"

( Cai's motto, 思想自由,兼容并包, is to Peking University roughly what "Veritas" is to Harvard. Every Beida student knows it by heart.)

In the same speech, Steinmeier also:

1. cited the Universal Declaration of Human Rights;

2. called Russia's war against Ukraine an attack on the international order, and asked China, which "has close ties with Russia," to help persuade Moscow to stop;

3. complained about state-subsidised Chinese exports flowing into Europe, tightly controlled (or no) access to China's market for European companies, and Beijing's restrictions on important raw materials.

Now look at how China News Service, the CCP's second state news agency after Xinhua, reported the same speech on Oct 30.

The headline was about trade: "win-win must never become a zero-sum game." The lead: Europe "does not want to decouple from China." They also found room for his ping-pong match on campus (with photos and video) and his trip to the Huangshan mountains.

Freedom of thought? Gone.

Human rights? Gone.

Russia and Ukraine? Gone.

The trade complaints? Gone.

(I compared his office's official text with the China News Service report. I haven't checked every Chinese outlet, so if you find a Chinese state media report that kept those lines, please share it in the comments.)

The next day, Xi Jinping briefed Steinmeier on the CCP's Fifth Plenum, the meeting that just expelled a record 33 senior figures, and, according to the CCP's own Foreign Ministry readout, offered to "carry out governance experience exchanges" with German political parties.

What experience would that be? How to make a quarter of your Central Committee disappear?

I studied at Peking University from 1984 to 1991, where I earned a Master of Science degree. In 2000, the CCP sent me to a forced labor camp simply because I practiced Falun Gong. That is what "freedom of thought" means under the CCP.

Thank you, Mr. Steinmeier, for saying it at Beida. Too bad most Chinese people will never get to read it, unless we tell them.
