KINGSTON – The City of Kingston has begun to p-lant 120 trees in its seven city parks.

Starting this week, the trees, between six and nine feet tall, which were purchased locally from Schichtels Nursery through the New York Power Authority’s “Tree Power” program, will be planted in Forsyth Park, Barmann Park, Block Parak, Cornell Park, Hasbrouck Park, Hutton Park, and Loughran Park.

“These trees will add shade to the parks’ larger recreation areas, as well as walking paths and parking lots,” said Mayor Steven Noble.

In addition to the parks plantings, the city is planting 60 new, native species, street trees on Elmendorf Street and bordering areas of ten Broeck Avenue, Smith Avenue, and Tremper Avenue.

That project is expected to be completed next week.
