MID-HUDSON – Despite scientific controversy over the rationale for moving clocks forward in the spring and back in the fall, the Hudson Valley region of the United States still observes the time change.  Daylight Saving Time ended at 2 a.m. this morning (November 1, 2026).  At that time, clocks moved back to 1 a.m. and will remain on that schedule until March 14, 2027.

Fire departments encourage friends and neighbors to use the time change as a reminder to check or change smoke alarm batteries.  The average lifespan of these batteries is 10 years, and checking them every six months is a small task that could save lives.
