NEWBURGH- The City of Newburgh has approved a citywide curfew for minors 16 years of age and younger during Halloween weekend.
The City Council approved a resolution on October 30, establishing a curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Friday, October 30, and continuing through Sunday morning, November 1.
Under the resolution, minors are prohibited from being out during curfew hours unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, engaged in employment, or involved in an emergency.
City officials are urging parents and guardians to make sure their children are aware of the restrictions and to supervise their activities throughout the weekend.
According to the city, the curfew is intended to promote the safety, health and welfare of young people, as well as protect property throughout the community.
The City of Newburgh thanked residents for their cooperation and assistance in ensuring a safe Halloween weekend.
