SOUTHEAST – A North Salem woman face felony charges of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger (Leandra’s Law) for allegedly driving drunk on Route 6 in Southeast.
State Police arrested 27-year-old Kayden Billingsley after her car was observed weaving in and out of traffic, according to authorities.
Troop K Public Information Officer Trooper Krystal Paolicelli said when Billingsley exhibited signs of intoxication, standardized field sobriety tests were administered and a further investigation determined that a 1-year-old child was a passenger in the vehicle.
Billingsley was taken to the State Police station in Brewster for processing, where she underwent a chemical breath test showing a blood alcohol content of 0.14 percent—nearly twice New York State’s legal limit for DWI.
The child was uninjured and was released to a third party.
Billingsley was arraigned on the charge and was released without bail pending a December 10 hearing in Southeast Town Court.
The charge carries a maximum four year state prison term if found guilty.
