WHITE PLAINS – A 60-year-old Yonkers woman has pled guilty to overdriving, torturing, injuring animals, failure to provide proper sustenance and abandonment of animals after she left her one-year-old dog Frankie tied to a gate for hours and was later found with a severe gash on his neck.

The charges against Anita Martin are covered under the state’s Agriculture and Markets Law.

She is expected to be sentenced to three years of probation when she appears in court next January. She will also be required to complete 20 hours of community service, pay $1,618 in restitution to the Yonkers Animal Shelter, and be listed on the Animal Abuse Registry.

Westchester District Attorney Susan Cacace called the cruelty inflicted on the mastiff mix “reprehensible.”
