PUTNAM COUNTY- Nine days of early voting began Saturday throughout the Hudson Valley. In Putnam County, 1,775 people took the opportunity to cast ballots at the county’s two polling places in Carmel and Cold Spring.
Numbers were much higher than last year, when 4,700 residents voted early during the entire nine-day period.
Putnam’s all-time high early voting tabulation occurred in 2024 during the Presidential election when 24,210 residents of the six county’s towns cast ballots early.
Early voting continues today at the Board of Elections Office on Old Route 6 in Carmel and the American Legion Hall on Cedar Street in Cold Spring and will continue daily until next Sunday, Nov. 1.
Elections Commissioner Cathy Croft reminded voters: “If you vote early, you cannot vote again on Election Day. Early voting results will be canvassed and reported after 9 p.m. on Election Day, November 3.”
