GOSHEN – Thirty-four-year-old Jesus Ramon, a Port Jervis resident, is going to state prison after pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in Orange County Court earlier this year. Ramon was sentenced to eight years in prison and five years of post-release supervision in exchange for the guilty plea.
On July 7, 2026, at approximately 11:34 p.m., court records show that parole officers conducted a routine search of Ramos’ residence in the Town of Deerpark as part of the conditions of his parole for a previous felony conviction. During the search, officers recovered two firearms, magazines, and ammunition. One of the firearms had a partially defaced serial number. Because of his prior felony conviction, Ramos was prohibited from possessing a loaded gun, which he acknowledged in county court.
“Felony offenders, particularly those under parole supervision like this defendant, have no right to possess guns,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. “Repeat offenders remain the most significant contributors to crime, and it takes the collective efforts of agencies like the Town of Deerpark Police, who work together with our state law enforcement partners, to keep our communities safe,” Hoovler reiterated that “Gun crimes remain a cornerstone priority of my office.”
