PATTERSON – Police in Putnam County are trying to determine why a 35-year-old Connecticut man was walking along Route 22 in Patterson Tuesday night before being struck and killed by a passing vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office identified the victim Wednesday as Michael Frick of New Fairfield.

Sheriff Brian Hess said the accident took place at the intersection of Routes 22 and 164—the scene of many crashes over the years.

A 911 call brought Patterson firefighters, Patterson Community Ambulance personnel, and an Empress Putnam paramedic to the scene, where a Putnam County coroner pronounced Frick dead.

Hess said the driver of the vehicle who was not identified remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
