NEW YORK- Governor Kathy Hochul announced that 3 million New Yorkers have received energy rebate checks of up to $200, with another 5.2 million payments expected to be mailed in the coming weeks.

The one-time rebates are part of the state’s $1 billion Protecting Our Wallets Energy Rebate (POWER) program, approved in the state budget to help offset rising household energy costs.

Eligible joint tax filers earning less than $150,000 will receive $200, while those earning between $150,000 and $300,000 will receive $150.  Eligible single filers earning less than $150,000 will receive $100.

Checks are being mailed automatically through December and no application is required.
