TOWN OF GOSHEN – Town of Goshen Supervisor Joseph Betro this week highlighted investments in infrastructure, public safety, and parks while reporting a 2.3% increase in the town’s core property tax levy over five years.
During his State of the Town address, Betro said the town had expanded services and prepared for future development while managing costs.
“Despite regional inflation of approximately 24%, we have held the increase in our core Town property-tax levy to just 2.3% over five years, while growing our fund balances from $3.9 million to nearly $8 million,” Betro said.
The town’s core budget grew 27.5%, from $9.1 million in 2021 to $11.6 million in 2026, according to his presentation, according to Betro. Water and sewer projects include a $1.6 million filtration system at Hambletonian Park and a $6.5 million water project in Arcadia Hills, for which the town has secured $1.8 million. Four water districts were consolidated into one in 2024.
The town also secured $720,000 in state funding for improvements at Myron Urbanski Memorial Park in Craigville and $450,000 for Erie Street Park. Along Route 17M, Goshen is pursuing water and sewer infrastructure to support commercial development, including possible acquisition and reuse of a state-operated wastewater treatment facility.
Betro said the town would continue pursuing funding and improving services while protecting taxpayers and preserving the community’s character.
