HUDSON – As part of an ongoing animal cruelty investigation, the Columbia-Greene Humane Society has taken in 42 cats rescued from a property in Catskill.

Among the animals are 19 adults and 32 kittens, many facing a difficult recovery, with the kittens in poor condition. Many are thin, sick, and suffering from significant parasitic infections and are in need of immediate medical attention, proper nutrition, and loving care, humane society officials said.

The agency is asking the public for help in meeting the unexpected need through donations and by opening their homes to animals awaiting adoption.

“With proper treatment, patience, and the generosity of a caring community, animals who arrive frightened, sick, and vulnerable can have something they may never have known before: a safe, loving home,” said Society President Ron Perez.
