NEWBURGH – Now that the proposed 2027 Newburgh City budget includes funding for staff for a Newburgh Illuminated festival next year, one of its organizers is ready to start planning.
The one-day event in June draws tens of thousands of people to enjoy the festivities and showcase what the city has to offer visitors, and Richard Fracasse is excited that it will be held next summer.
“All of the roadblocks have been removed do it looks like we’re going to move forward with the Newburgh Illuminated,” he told Mid-Hudson Newburgh.
The festival never got off the ground last summer because the former appointed city administration declined to approve it.
