CARMEL – A former Putnam County resident now living in Orange County pleaded guilty Wednesday in Putnam County Court to stealing $212,000 from the Garrison Fish and Game Club and the Catfish Pond Association, two Garrison-based nonprofits.

Mark Kenny pled to the indictment against him which included two counts of Grand Larceny and one count of Falsifying Business Records.

District Attorney Robert Tendy said the investigation began in late December 2024, when members of the Catfish Pond Association and the Garrison Fish and Game Club reported suspected thefts to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

“Club members alleged that Kenny, who served as treasurer for both organizations, had systematically stolen organizational funds over several years,” said Tendy.

Putnam Sheriff’s Investigator William Kraus and Financial Crimes Assistant District Attorney Melissa Lynch initiated an investigation, which determined that Kenny had stolen a combined total of $212,000 from the two organizations over a four-year period.

Kenny had lived in Garrison at the time, but Tendy said he moved to Orange County after the arrest.

Putnam County Judge Joseph Spofford scheduled sentencing for January 26, 2027.
