KINGSTON – For months, Ulster County District Attorney Emmanuel Nneji has reported to the county legislature that he had vacancies in the ranks of assistant DAs – as many as seven empty positions.

He now says he has been able to close the gap on those staffing shortages with three remaining new hires.

“That brings us to 28 ADAs full-time and part-time all together, and that’s the same number of ADAs in the office in 2019 before the criminal justice reforms that went into place dealing with discovery and bail reforms and all that,” he said.

Nneji said he still needs help, but the office is in a better position now.
