MONTICELLO – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and The Clothesline Project is a visual campaign by Fearless!, raising that awareness. Survivors and their families decorate shirts with messages, dates, and illustrations documenting personal experiences of assault, abuse, and survival. Displayed side-by-side on clotheslines, the shirts make the scope of gender-based violence visible in public spaces, educating the community and providing a direct outlet for survivors to tell their stories.

On October 1st, the shirts hung outside the Sullivan County Government Center.
The director of Fearless! Hudson Valley, Kellyann Kostyal-Larrier, says the project helps the survivors and the victims:
“Really encourage people to walk the line, honor the survivors and the strength of the survivors in our community, but reflect and mourn the loss of those, as well. And we’re—we are tired of putting shirts on that line.”
