NEW WINDSOR- After 41 years of dedicated service to the New Windsor Police Department, Lt. Fred Fayo walked out of the department for the very last time, marking the end of a long and distinguished career in law enforcement.

The occasion was marked by a heartfelt tribute from fellow officers, retired department members, and members of other law enforcement agencies who gathered at the New Windsor Police Department to honor the retiring lieutenant.

As Lt. Fayo and his wife prepared to leave, officers and fellow members of law enforcement formed two lines in a ceremonial show of respect.  A dispatcher announced Fayo’s achievements and accomplishments throughout his 41 years of service, giving those gathered an opportunity to reflect on his years of commitment to the department and the community.

At the conclusion of the announcements, the command was given: “Attention! Hand salute!”

With officers standing at attention, Lt. Fayo and his wife walked between the two lines in a moving farewell that recognized not only his years of service but also the relationships and memories built throughout his career.

The ceremony included a special family moment that added a personal touch to the occasion.  At the end of the line, Fayo’s son, Dominick, presented his mother with flowers, a thoughtful gesture honoring the family that stood beside the lieutenant throughout his years in law enforcement.

Meanwhile, Fayo’s other son, Fred Jr., was waiting inside a patrol car.  Dominick climbed in, and the two drove away.

After more than four decades of answering the call of duty, Lt. Fred Fayo’s final walk from the New Windsor Police Department was met with the respect, appreciation, and gratitude of those who served alongside him.
