KINGSTON – A 50-year-old Kerhonkson man, who was charged with killing the woman who had just broken off their relationship, and then dismembering her body, pled guilty to murder in Ulster County Court on Wednesday.
Damon Foy admitted to killing Alberta Dale, 44, of Pennsylvania, between March 31, 2024 and April 1, 2024, and was in the process of dismembering her body when police intervened. Her remains were located on April 2.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office began their investigation by conducting a welfare check on Dale at Foy’s home after family members in Pennsylvania contacted authorities.
Ulster District Attorney Emmanuel Nneji said, “This case exemplifies in one person the evil of domestic violence.” He said, “The total selfish disregard for the life and dignity of another person is at the heart of domestic violence; Damon Foy has shown that to us.”
The DA said victims of domestic violence have the rights “to be physically, psychologically, and emotionally safe from their tormentors and the dangers specifically targeted for them, and demand procedures that actually protect victims for real, not just on paper.”
Foy is expected to be sentenced by Judge Bryan Rounds on December 16.
Assisting in the case were State Police Troop F, including their Forensic Investigation Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation personnel from the Ellenville, Highland, and Kingston barracks, and their Major Crimes Unit, along with the Ulster County Medical Examiner’s Office.
