ELLENVILLE – A joint effort by law enforcement led to 25 arrests in a drug sales and possession operation dubbed “Operation Wrecking Ball” in the Village of Ellenville.

The arrests were made in July and August and announced by Ulster County Sheriff’s Capt. Joe Sciutto on Tuesday.

“That was a street-focused arrest operation from citizen complaints we received and in response to the violence that we have seen in the month of August,” he said.

The investigation led to the executive of search warrants and the seizure of narcotics, controlled substances, firearms, firearm parts, and other weapons.

Police seized over 42 grams of cocaine, over 79 grams of crack cocaine, 18 units of assorted pharmaceutical controlled substances, two firearms, firearm parts, two brass knuckles and a billy club.

Charges ranged from felony to misdemeanor drug counts, DWI, aggravated DWI, endangering the welfare of a child, and EnCon firearms violations.

The investigation was conducted by the Ulster County Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team, Ulster County Sheriff’s Patrol Division, State Police Special Investigation Unit, Ellenville Police, US Department of Homeland Security Investigation, Ulster County Probation, Plattekill Town Police, and New Paltz Town Police.
