NARROWSBURG- Sullivan County will provide $8,700 to keep a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamflow gage on the Delaware River at Barryville operating through September 30, 2027.
The funding follows a resolution introduced by Sullivan County District 2 Legislator Nadia Rajsz. The Upper Delaware Council will administer the contract with the county and the USGS New York Water Science Center.
The Barryville gage provides continuous river-flow data used by recreationists, commercial outfitters, environmental agencies and emergency managers. The information also helps monitor flood conditions and supports the region’s tourism economy.
The gage is the only monitoring station between Lackawaxen and Matamoras, and provides information on how the Lackawaxen River and releases from Lake Wallenpaupack affect downstream conditions.
