CITY OF NEWBURGH – Two City of Newburgh residents, ages 12 and 15, have been arrested in connection with a burglary last month at two businesses operating out of the same Liberty Street building, police said.

City of Newburgh police officers responded to 257 Liberty St. at about 11 a.m. Sept. 9 after receiving a report of a burglary that occurred overnight at Hudson Valley Cheesecake and Triple Shot Coffee.

Police said two offenders forced their way into the building and damaged and stole property.

The department’s Detective Division investigated the burglary, with Detective M. Rude assigned to the case.

On Sept. 24 at about 6 p.m., detectives arrested the two juveniles in connection with the burglary. Each was charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny.

Both juveniles were also charged with second-degree menacing in connection with a separate, unrelated incident, police said.

The juveniles were released pending appearances in Family Court.
