POUGHKEEPSIE – The Family Partnership Center on North Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie is the site of a free Dutchess County Community Baby Shower today, September 29, from 3 to 7 pm, organized by the Dutchess County Department of Health (DCDOH), in partnership with the Institute for Family Health’s Perinatal and Infant Community Health Collaboratives, Healthy Families Dutchess County, and the Poughkeepsie Children’s Cabinet
Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino said the shower will bring together local programs and providers to offer meaningful support for expectant and new parents.
Expecting parents can access helpful resources, learn about early‑parenting topics, and connect in a welcoming, family‑focused space.
Highlights, according to county officials, include:
- Parenting resources: Evidence‑based information on pregnancy, infant care, and family health.
- Baby‑shower‑style activities: Interactive activities, games, and photo opportunities.
- On‑site experts: Available to answer questions and offer individualized guidance.
- Early‑parenting education: Feeding, development, safety, mental health, healthy home habits, and more.
- Childhood vaccinations: Dutchess County Dept. of Health clinic is open for families wishing to update immunizations.
- Shower passport: Visit partner tables and engage with resources; completing the passport enters attendees to win themed baskets and popular high‑value prizes.
- Light refreshments: Snacks available throughout the event.
Spanish-speaking staff will be available to assist attendees and DCDOH Commissioner Dr. Livia Santiago Rosado will be on-site for comment/interview.
