YORKTOWN HEIGHTS- Slippery roads caused a vehicle to spin out of control and plunge down a steep embankment in Yorktown Heights, prompting a complex rescue by first responders.

Yorktown Fire Department officials on Monday reported the crash that occurred on Route 129 in the vicinity of the Taconic State Parkway overpass.

Nine-one-one calls sent firefighters and EMT’s to the scene who found the unidentified driver trapped in the vehicle.

A fire department spokesperson added: “Several members were lowered to reach the patient, while others stabilized the vehicle with a grip hoist and removed the driver’s door. Crews then used a low-angle rescue to bring the patient safely topside to EMS personnel, who triaged the victim and transported them to Westchester Medical Center.”
