PORT JERVIS – Lisa Randazzo-Misczuk grew up in Cuddebackville before moving to Port Jervis, where she graduated from high school and raised a family with her husband.
Randazzo-Misczuk cares deeply about Port Jervis and its surrounding communities, an often-overlooked area. She believes her passion for Port Jervis and western Orange County will serve her well as an Orange County Legislator.
Randazzo-Misczuk, a Republican, was selected on Monday night to replace Tom Faggione on the Orange County Legislature.
“It was something I was interested in, and I am no stranger to politics,” said Randazzo-Misczuk, who served on the City of Port Jervis Council from 2016-21. “I want to take that experience and take it to the County level. I look forward to working with the different communities in my district and strategize with them to help them thrive.”
Randazzo-Misczuk, Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan & Ulster, will represent the City of Port Jervis, the Town of Deerpark and half of the Town of Greenville. The municipal boards representing those communities selected her to fill the vacancy on the 21-member Legislature. The other candidates for the Legislative seat were Port Jervis Conservative Michael Witt and Danielle Glynn, a Republican from Deerpark.
Randazzo-Misczuk, a mother of four grown children, expects to be sworn in as a Legislator by the end of this week. She will face a special election in November of next year. If Randazzo-Misczuk wins that race, she said she will run the following year again to keep the four-year seat.
Last month, Faggione was appointed by County Executive Steven Neuhaus to promote the county Parks Department in a newly created position. There had been speculation last year that Faggione, a Republican, would leave the Legislature for a position involving the county parks system.
