MONTICELLO- The Sullivan County Legislature took time last week to honor a familiar voice, recognizing veteran broadcaster Paul Ciliberto for reaching an extraordinary milestone: 50 years on the air.

For five decades, Ciliberto has been a morning staple and community presence across the Catskills.  Lawmakers presented him with a special proclamation recognizing his longevity, dedication to the community, and lasting impact on the region’s radio landscape.

Ciliberto said he was surprised by the recognition.

“I appreciate the recognition, but I really—I really am surprised. I’m honored, and just really shocked,” he said.

Vince Benedetto, owner of Bold Gold Media Group, where Ciliberto works, called him a tremendous asset to the community.

“He’s an extraordinary broadcaster. You could travel this entire nation and not find somebody that does what he does as good as he does. Not even close,” Benedetto said.

For Ciliberto, his role extends beyond simply delivering a morning broadcast. He said he tries to keep negativity out of his programming and instead offer listeners a sense of hope and connection.

“There’s hope for you. There’s hope. There’s people out there that care, and that’s what community is really all about,” Ciliberto said.
