SOUTHEAST- Two Middletown men and a woman from Poughkeepsie face felony charges for possessing a stolen loaded handgun following their arrests by State Police.

Around 10 p.m., troopers stopped the car for speeding on I-84 in Southeast and called in a drug-detection canine while questioning the occupants.

K-9 Jet sniffed the outside of the car and alerted the presence of narcotics, according to police. Troopers then searched the vehicle and reportedly found the stolen, loaded Taurus Brazil G2C 9mm handgun.

Charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property were Chaz Townes-Haines, 29, and Dominick Bledsoe, 35, both from Middletown and Poughkeepsie resident 32-year-old Raven Cherry.

The two men were remanded to the Putnam Correctional Facility on bail, while Cherry was released without bond.

All three are due back in court next month.

The top felony charge carries a maximum seven year state prison term if found guilty.
