GOSHEN – The Goshen Central School District continues to mourn the death of a student this week, prompting the district to bring in additional counselors and support staff to assist students and employees.

The district has not publicly identified the student, a freshman at Goshen High School.

“I know that everyone is hurting at all levels of our community and school district,” interim Goshen School Superintendent Thomas Bongiovi said in a Facebook video Friday. “In the coming week and weeks, we will continue to share resources for you, so that we can get through this together. Please continue to support one another and stay Goshen strong.”

Additional counselors and support staff were made available at the student’s school this week to help students, faculty, and staff cope with the loss. The district also encouraged students who are struggling to speak with a counselor, teacher, administrator, or another trusted adult.
