CARMEL- Homecoming is a special opportunity for the entire Carmel community to come together in celebration of the pride, tradition, talent, and spirit that connect schools and neighborhoods.

Thousands of students, families, alumni, staff, and community members will take part in Homecoming activities beginning tonight and continuing Saturday.

Superintendent of Schools Michael Plotkin described Homecoming Friday as “far more than a series of events. It is a time for us to celebrate what it means to be part of the Carmel Central School District. It brings generations of community members together, recognizes the hard work and accomplishments of our students, and reminds our children that they are supported by a community that values their growth, participation, leadership, and school pride.”

Plotkin added: “For our students, seeing families, neighbors, alumni, and staff members gathered in support is meaningful. Whether they are participating in the parade, performing with a school group, being recognized as a senior, competing on the athletic field, or cheering from the stands, our children benefit from knowing that their community is present, engaged, and proud of them. These shared experiences help strengthen students’ sense of belonging and create memories that will remain with them long after their school years.”

Festivities kick off this evening with a bonfire at the George Fischer Middle School from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A Homecoming parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning from the intersection of Route 52 and Fair Street to Carmel High School.

The Carmel Rams will be hosting a football game against Rockland County’s Clarkstown North High School beginning at 1 p.m.
