BREWSTER – New arching spider webs, tall slides, a climbing wall, steps and bridges, bouncy chairs, a merry-go-round, and a specially designated area for pre-K students, all colored in Brewster green, are now open for public use at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Brewster.
During a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday attended by Brewster School District administrators, teachers, staff and students, JFK School Assistant Principal Eileen Cruz called the design and vision of the playground a “team effort. We met with and got feedback from our occupational therapists, physical therapists, teachers, and staff,” she said.
A group of second graders – in unison – thanked district administrators as well as members of the Board of Education.
“We students of JFK thank you for our new playground…We love it so much because we love to play…Thank you for your kindness… We promise to play safe and have fun and make friends. Let’s cut the ribbon,” they said.
1The play area is highlighted by a specially designated area for pre-K students.
Superintendent Michelle Gosh told the ceremony, “We are grateful for the ongoing support of the community which allows us to enrich and differentiate experiences for all students.”
