BLOOMING GROVE – Senator James Skoufis (D-Orange County) has obtained $500,000 in state funding for the Town of Blooming Grove’s purchase of eight acres of land directly adjacent to Lasser Park for the preservation of open space.
The acreage was purchased directly from the Lasser family. A farmhouse still stands on the property, which will be preserved for the public and to accommodate an office for the town historian.
“I was happy to secure this funding and gratified to tour the house and land the Town of Blooming Grove has purchased for preservation,” said Senator Skoufis. “Preservation is not just about plants and ecosystems and shorelines, though those are all important. It’s also vital to preserve the history of the Hudson Valley. In preserving the Lasser farmhouse, the Town of Blooming Grove is doing just that.”
