HUDSON VALLEY- During his tour of duty when assigned to Trooper Edward Resier, State Police Canine Dunn assisted in hundreds of investigations throughout Putnam, Dutchess, Westchester and Columbia counties involving illegal firearms and significant quantities of narcotics, fugitive apprehensions, and the recovery of more than $10 million in U.S. currency associated with narcotics investigations.
The dog was part of the Troop K Community Stabilization Unit from September 2018 until his retirement in March of last year.
Canine Dunn, named in honor of Trooper Vincent Dunn, has died.
Trooper Dunn was a 33-year State Police veteran who was found behind the wheel of his cruiser after a 1932 crash in Brewster. He died several hours later at Danbury Hospital.
Troop K Commander Major Brian Ferrone thanked the canine for his years of loyal service and his lasting contributions to the State Police.
“He will not be forgotten,” said the state police official.
