POUGHKEEPSIE- Dutchess County has awarded $100,000 in one-time grants to nine local organizations and municipalities through its 2026 Veterans Microgrant Program.

The funding will support projects aimed at honoring veterans and improving services, facilities, and opportunities for them. Grants range from $4,125 to $14,000.

Among the recipients are Veterans Sportsmens Association in Pleasant Valley, which will purchase fishing equipment and adaptive gear for disabled veterans; Arlington American Legion Post 1302, which will upgrade its kitchen; and the towns of LaGrange, Stanford and Hyde Park, which will establish or enhance Purple Heart recognition efforts.

Other grants will fund improvements at American Legion posts in Pleasant Valley and Beacon, a retreat for female spouses of veterans, and banners honoring veterans in Union Vale.

County Executive Sue Serino said the grants will help strengthen local efforts to support veterans and their families.
