MARLBOROUGH – State Senator Michelle Hinchey (D, Saugerties) announced $514,000 in state funding for municipal infrastructure and emergency response equipment in the towns of Marlborough and Plattekill.

The funding includes grants for the Marlborough Highway Department, Marlborough Police Department, and Plattekill Fire Department.

The Marlborough Highway Department received $200,000 from Hinchey and $250,000 from Assemblymember Jacobson to renovate and expand its nearly 70-year-old building. The project provided additional space and upgraded facilities for the town’s Highway and Water departments and its EMS provider, Ambulnz.

Hinchey also secured $55,000 for the Marlborough Police Department to purchase a new utility terrain vehicle. The UTV will help officers conduct rescues, respond to emergencies, and search for missing people in rural and otherwise inaccessible areas.

The Plattekill Fire Department received $109,000 for a new brush truck, replacing a 1972 vehicle that was retired in 2023. The new truck is designed to navigate wooded, brush-heavy, and agricultural areas during firefighting operations.

“Our Southern Ulster communities deserve strong infrastructure and emergency services, and I’m proud to help make that a reality,” Hinchey said. “When Marlborough Police and Plattekill Fire respond to emergencies, they need the right equipment to save lives.”

Hinchey said the grants will allow the towns to make needed improvements without placing additional financial burdens on residents.
